Designing your own website? Start at the end!

Updated: Aug 5, 2021

OK I know this sounds crazy but start with your end point. What is it that you want your visitors to do when they are on your site?

Can they move through your site easily? Do they know how to find your about page or what services you offer?

Before you even start designing your website start the very first thing you should do is think about the actions you want people to take once they are on your site.

  • How they move through your site

  • Your offers and services

  • Finding out more about you

  • Most importantly your calls to action

Thinking about the pages on your website, start at the very top and plan out what you want on your main menu and what you want as sub-headers and don't forget your call to action (what you want people to do before they leave your site).

My Designed in a Day clients have access to their own client portals which walks them through this really critical step and how to plan their pages from top to bottom. It's all part of the Designed in a Day signature web design service I offer.

However, I know that hiring a web designer isn't always possible but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have access to great resources to overcome your website overwhelm and design an attention-grabbing website yourself. The 38 page "Overcome your web design Overwhelm" workbook is crammed full of useful information, tips and worksheets to help you get started with your web design project and it only costs £17! Click the link below to grab your copy - you can print it off or fill it in on your computer or phone the choice is yours.
